When pregnant women take prescription medications or other drugs, their babies can be born dependent on those drugs.
KRCC is committed to promoting prenatal and postnatal care for mothers on Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) and babies born with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS). Turning Point is designed so that women and families can overcome the challenges and barriers associated with substance use during pregnancy. We work in partnership with Ob/Gyns, primary care providers, and other community partners to provide evidence-based therapies and information to our clients, and we provide ongoing support for up to 6 months after the birth of the baby.
Referrals to our program originate from our community partners, as well as from Drug Court, probation and parole officers, and domestic violence advocates. Our treatment involves counseling (individual, family, and group) and outreach through comprehensive case management, including accessing local resources, addressing barriers such as lack of money, transportation, and employment concerns, and NAS education support.
In addition, we provide Assessment, Parenting for NAS Behavioral therapy, Pharmacotherapy, Substance Abuse Monitoring, Self-Help, and Continuing Care.
